GRIZZLY BEAR and BROWN BEAR

Any hunter who has ever been up close to a big male grizzly or brown bear knows what an exciting experience it really is. Bears are absolutely fascinating animals. Their power and stamina are incredible. We hunt grizzlies from the same camps that we use for our hunting moose and Dall rams. I watched two different grizzlies last fall hit the carcasses of rams that we had taken earlier in the season. During September, grizzlies can be seen on the mountainside feeding on blueberries. Because they are always on the move, the best way to find them is spotting from a high vantage point overlooking as much real estate as possible. A successful stalk on a big bear must be well planned out and carefully executed, as they are exceptionally smart. Their sense of smell is second to none in the animal world. The presence of moose carcasses in the valley makes bears much more predictable. Many of our hunters have taken a grizzly at the site of their own moose kill. The moose/grizzly combination hunt has always been very popular with my clients. I believe that no trophy collection is complete without a beautiful bear. Many hunters consider their bears the most prized trophy of all. I have guided over thirty brown/grizzly hunts, and every detail of every hunt is still fresh in my memory. The biggest brown bears in the world live on the Alaska Peninsula, in Alaska Game Management Unit 9. In the fall of odd numbered years and spring of even numbered years, I take a very limited number of clients (two to four) in pursuit of big ten-foot bears. When you're ready for some real hunting excitement, book this hunt.
